ACID SPRAY

experimentation with how black and other colours react with the chemicals in bleach to create colour differences.

the most commonly seen acid dye is what i have sampled below, using pure bleach on black cotton to create a rich terracotta colour. applying this as a spray creates a grungey, worn look which is a very specific aesthetic. these colours are very reminiscent of the house of bean as the black, terracotta and contrasting white print is very bold and loud.

acid dyeing is a good way of creating colours that may be hard to achieve through natural dye. until i manage to find a rich strong terracotta natural dye i will be using this method of applying bleach to black to obtain the colour.
